6 8 24 My beloved teacher Dr. Pammel;-- Your remarkable letter has been here several days, I have read it over again and again many times. The more I read it and study it the more I see of the real Dr. Pammel shining through, the thing that above all other things makes you the great teacher that you are, your strong humanitarian impulses and greatness of soul has always shone through and dominated your life. I am confident my life and career could never have been what it is had it not touched yours. I wish so much I could have been at that Cosmopolitan dinner, I would have taken great pleasure in telling them to whom I owed a deeper debt of gratitude for my success than any one else, to you Dr. Pammel. My very soul rejoiced and yet rejoices at seeing you last winter. You will never know in this world what your life has meant and it still means to me.
