Notes for the Iowa Birdline update for January 22, 1990. Highlights of the update include sightings of Merlins, Short-eared Owls, and Common Redpolls. Also of note were observations of several Falcons as well as a report from Red Rock Dam of an estimated 5000 Ducks, 300 Canada Geese, and 35 Bald Eagles.
Notes for the Iowa Birdline update for July 30, 1990. Highlights of the update include sightings of a white immature Little Blue Heron, a Ringed Turtle-Dove, nesting House Finches, and a fourth report of a Red Crossbill. Also of note were several observations of shorebirds, including a Wilson's Phalarope, a Short-billed Dowitcher, Stilt Sandpipers, and numerous American White Pelicans.

Highlights of the update include numerous reports of Ducks and Gulls returning to the state including Hooded Mergansers, Bufflehead, Ring-billed Gulls, Herring Gulls, and a Glaucous Gull. Also of note were unusual February sightings of a Franklin's Gull and a Killdeer.

Notes for the Iowa Birdline update for October 22, 1990. Highlights of the notes include the continued presence of a California Gull, a Mute Swan, and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. Also of note were the large numbers of migrant bluebirds and waterfowl spreading across the state. Other interesting observations were of a Carolina Wren, a flock of Red Crossbills, and 6 Sparrow species, including a Harris' Sparrow.

Highlights of the update include sightings of Pacific Loon, a first winter Black-legged Kittiwake, a Surf Scoter, a first winter Thayer's Gull, and an immature Golden Eagle. Other observations of note were of a very late Scarlet Tanager, 2 Carolina Wrens, 2 Rough-legged Hawks, and 5 Bald Eagles.
