Contains names of and photos of the officers of the Temples, Lodges, and ancillary bodies of the Middle Western States Association of the Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World (IBPOE of W).   
  
The Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World was founded in 1898 in response to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) prohibition on Black membership.
In 1958, the Cedar Valley Lodge No. 426 and Melrose Temple No. 277 were located at 603 Shilliam Avenue in Waterloo.
