The portrait was part of a 1944 exhibition organized by the Harmon Foundation of New York City. The Foundation donated this portrait to the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. This bust of George Washington Carver was sculpted by Ed Dwight of Denver, Colorado in 1990. Crafted in bronze at 1 1/4 life size, the bust was commissioned for the Alabama Department of Archives & History.
