Brooks was reappointed pastor by the A.M.E. Conference. A Shakespearean recital by W.H. Crawford entertained audiences, and Thomas Bass of Missouri won top prizes with his horses at state fairs. Gov. Cummins appointed John L. Thompson of Des Moines to the Public Archives commission, and other topics.
