Born in Tennessee and raised in Kansas, Rev. Brice U. Taylor came to Iowa by late 1908. He served the Bethel AME Church in Cedar Rapids until he was transferred to Clinton’s Bethel AME Church in September 1909. Taylor served in Keokuk in 1910 before moving to Des Moines in 1911.

While pastor for St. Paul AME Church in Des Moines, he participated in a luncheon for Booker T. Washington on November 11, 1911. Rev. Taylor served St. Paul until being transferred to St. Stephen’s AME Church in Chicago, Illinois in October 1915. He lived and served in Cook County, Illinois until moving to California in the early 1950s. Rev. Taylor died in 1954 and was buried in Lincoln Memorial Park in Los Angeles County.
