Born in Maryland in 1842, Rev. Lemuel Lomack served AME churches in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and possibly New Haven, Connecticut. He came to Iowa in 1901 and was announced as the new pastor for the Baptist Church in Saylor Township in the Des Moines Register & Leader of January 7, 1905.

He continued to serve as a minister in Des Moines, eventually becoming pastor for the Union Baptist Mission at 315 E. 15th by 1915. In 1918 he received an appointment for the People’s Mission Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He served there until his death in 1922. He is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park , Omaha, Nebraska.
